Economic Base
Orangeburg County is one of the largest agricultural producing counties in South Carolina, with fertile, slightly rolling land. Major crops are cotton, soybeans, corn, turf grass and watermelons.
The county is home to four Fortune 500 companies. It is also the location of seven industrial parks, housing industries in aerospace, agriculture, automotive, biotechnology, energy, forestry, life sciences, textiles and more.
Additionally, the county is at the center of South Carolina's Global Logistics Triangle (GLT), an area encompassing a triangle at the intersections of highways I-95, I-26, and U.S. 301. According to the Orangeburg Development Commission (OCDC) this area will become a regional intermodal transportation center over the next decade. It is an ideal location for distribution centers and other transportation-related businesses. It is also an important component in the future of the Port of Charleston and the Port of Savannah.
As a municipality within Orangeburg County, Holly Hill maintains a close partnership with these local economic development organizations.
